Common Questions

Why do the strategy results look different when I'm viewing it on my TradingView than what it shows in the Strategy Lab?

The results that you see in your own TradingView for a Strategy Lab strategy can differ because the Strategy Lab may be reflecting a much longer backtest range than you have access to based on your TradingView plan.

What's the difference in a Strategy vs Indicator

A strategy can be backtested in TradingView Strategy Tester.

Strategies can show:

  • Entries

  • Exits

  • Net profit

  • Drawdown

  • Win rate

  • Trade count

An indicator is mainly for visual analysis or confirmation.

Indicators can show signals, zones, dashboards, or oscillators, but they do not create Strategy Tester results unless there is a strategy version.
